Read along as this Star Wars noobie live tweets her first experience with the Original Trilogy.

As life long fans of the greatest saga ever told, we’re hooked the moment we experience Star Wars for the first time. It’s to the point where it’s almost inconceivable to find out that there are people out there who have never seen any installments of either trilogies. Blasphemous even. But the truth is, those people do exist and as rare an ocurrance as it may seem, it’s really not that crazy when you take off your fanboy/girl hat for a moment.

Nevertheless when we do come across such an individual, it’s great to be the one to experience it with them, comical even. But unlike some sort of Force ghosts patrolling the galaxy, looking for any unsuspecting noob willing to give up their Star Wars innocence to the creepy geek in home made Jedi robes, we can’t be there every time. But thanks to our social media obsessed culture, we have the “live tweet”.

Meet @gaileyfrey, someone who graciously invited us to bear witness as she was introduced to a new world of capes, space lounge monsters, whiny kids who need haircuts that forget the meaning of family and of course, tiny little murder bears.

Read this and take it for what it is with a sense of humor and without going into super fan mode. If you can resist tearing your hair out at the way she reduces it, you’ll see just how funny (and at times accurate) the whole thing is… “from a certain point of view”.

Each movie in this Original Trilogy live tweet session is separated. When you scroll through each session you can “read next page” to open up the rest of the stream.

Harrison Ford Destroys Annoying Fan’s Prized Collection Piece https://thecantinacrew.com/harrison-ford-destroys-annoying-fans-millenium-falcon/ Tue, 22 Dec 2015 10:45:06 +0000 http://thecantinacrew.com/?p=4135 While visiting the Conan show, Harrison Ford was asked a question by a super obsessed fan. It didn't go over too well with the veteran Star Wars actor.

Harrison Ford Destroys Annoying Fan’s Prized Collection Piece

Harrison Ford has heard it all over the last 38 years from annoying fans with way too much knowledge (and time) on their hands, obsessing over every little intricate detail in the Star Wars universe. He also has a bit of a reputation (true or not) to be a bit of a grump when it comes to such hardcore fandom. So during an interview on the Conan show accompanied by J.J. Abrams, it’s not a shocker that he was less than impressed when the show’s associate producer Jordan Schlansky asked him about something that even George Lucas would be hard pressed to remember.

His answer was short and sweet as he brushed Jordan off, but when the fan asked him to sign his prized Star Wars collection piece, a $5000 lego version of the Millenium Falcon, that’s when things took a turn for the worse.

At first I was the kid at 0:33, then I full on lost it like the kid at 0:59. Did you react like these babies when you saw the trailer?

There’s nothing like being a kid and seeing Star Wars for the very first time. There’s nothing like being a grown ass man and seeing The Force Awakens trailer after already seeing Star Wars thousands of times, but still feeling like you’re in brand new territory with a whole new set of movies. I’m sure I’m not alone.

When news of a new Star Wars broke a couple of years back, it was internet meltdown time. And then when the first trailer hit, it was rumor and speculation time for fanboys and fan girls around the world, but we were still a ways off until release date at that time. So when The Force Awakens Trailer 2 hit, with “December 18th, 2015” attached to it, it was like our dreams were finally coming true with the movie only 8 months away!

That’s what makes this video so funny, yet so relatable to those who grew up with the greatest saga of all time. We may be getting excited for different reasons, but whether your 35, 55 or 3 years old, we can all agree that something amazing is about to go down!

Wow, my very own Imperial II-class Star Destroyer? And I can get it on Craigslist? Seems legit…

You can get anything on Craigslist! Used computers, office furniture, and for us Star Wars fans, there’s tons of collectibles. Like this Star Destroyer, going for a cool 145,670,000 credits!

But all jokes aside, this is one of the funnier and more creative joke ads on Craigslist in a while, and just in time for all the hype surrounding the second trailer for “The Force Awakens”.

The original can listing can be found here on the Humboldt County, CA version of the site, but these things never stay on CL for very long due to community flagging, so we took a snapshot and pasted the text below for those who might miss out on the fun. Enjoy!

star wars, craigslist, used, star destroyer

Selling a slightly used Imperial II-class Star Destroyer.

Previously (slightly) owned by a navigator of a spice freighter, this vessel has been sitting on my moisture farm and needs to be removed before next year’s harvest. I just haven’t had time to give this classic the attention it deserves and my loss is some-one else’s gain!

1,600 meters in length this bad boy has a maximum atmospheric speed of 975 km/h and an acceleration of >2,300 g. It’s got a Class 2 hyper-drive system still in working order with a backup Class 8. SFS I-a2b solar ionization reactor is in good to excellent shape. KDY Destroyer-I ion engine turns over on the first try but may need a new serpentine belt.

As you can see by the picture provided, the deflector shield generator domes are intact. That is a state of the art ISD-72x.

Fully equipped with LeGrange targeting computers, heavy ion cannons, Phylon Q7 tractor beam projectors, leather bucket seats, and a 15 disc cd changer.

36,000 tons of cargo capacity, this beauty was ran with a crew of 37,085 but you can pull it off with a minimum of 5,000 leaving you plenty of room to pack in a few extra AT-AT walkers, TIE starfighters, prefabricated garrison bases, Lambda-class shuttles, yards of soil, spool after spool of pipe, and jet skis.

This superstructure is perfect for long road trips with the family, discovering new galaxies, picking up girls for dates, and general destruction of your enemies. Have you ever seen what a Star Destroyer can do to the surface of an unshielded planet? Stones run like water and sand turns to glass. With just a little TLC, this baby can be good as new.

Brand new this beauty of the skies runs at about 145,670,000 credits, but do to some carbon scoring I can be flexible on the price. Realistically, I just need it removed from my property, so all offers or trades will be considered. Make me an offer, no mind tricks.

First come, first serve basis. You are responsible for towing.

BUT WAIT! It get’s better…

Apparently someone went to “take a look” at this Star Destroyer, and had this to report:

star wars, craigslist, used star detroyer

I just wanted to make sure people are aware, this is a total scam. I drove all the way out there to look at this thing and the guy wanted a huge deposit before he’d even let me take it for a spin.

After looking around a bit I’d be surprised if this thing could even finish the Kessel run, let alone do it in a decent time. It’s totally infested with roaches and womp rats, so when you figure the cost of a 6.2 trillion cubic foot fumigation job, this thing is a total write-off for that reason alone.

I know it’s had Sand People in it, but all the tracks are single file so who knows how many have been in there or what parts they’ve ripped off.

You can’t even get this thing licensed in most states until you remove all 384 turbolasers and the ion cannons will have to be retrofitted with low-capacity magazines (thanks Obama), and there’s no way this thing is ever going to pass emissions.

The “carbon scoring” is conveniently makes the serial numbers unreadable, so I can’t even verify what model year this thing is, but I suspect that it’s the year that no one wants because there weren’t any handrails on the control deck. The whole “open bridge” thing was a terrible idea. It’s like the Pontiac Aztec of star destroyers.

So save yourself a trip. The guy just wants this crap off his farm but doesn’t want to pay the Jawas to haul it away.

Believe me, this isn’t the star destroyer you’re looking for.

Mark Newbold of Jedi News UK has an a amazing opportunity available during Celebration Europe II to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation and share your love of Star Wars at the same time; the Caravan of the Force! From the press release:

JediNews.co.uk and Star Wars Celebration Europe are delighted to announce Caravan of the Force in association with Toys ‘R’ Us. Caravan of the Force is a two vehicle convoy with six people on-board, all with the common goal of raising money for Make-A-Wish Foundation®. The Caravan will be travelling from the UK to France, Belgium, Holland and Germany arriving in time for Star Wars Celebration Europe that takes place 26-28th July in Messe Essen, and then all the way back to London again! As we reach each country we’ll be welcomed by the local 501st Garrison in order to raise awareness of our trip and raise funds for Make-A-Wish.
The trip has been organized and will be led by James Burns and Mark Newbold who co-own/run Jedi News, the UK’s #1 Star Wars fan site and the largest English speaking Star Wars fan site in Europe. James and Mark also write for the Official Star Wars magazine, Star Wars Insider, as well as the Official Star Wars Blog at StarWars.com where you’ll be able to track their progress with daily updates. Lucasfilm worked with James and Mark to put the Caravan together and help turn their wacky idea into reality.
Joining James and Mark is fan favorite actor Jeremy Bulloch, who played Boba Fett in the original Star Wars films as well as a cameo part in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. In addition to his Star Wars roles he’s acted in several other films including Summer Holiday and the James Bond film Octopussy, which like Return on the Jedi also celebrates its 30th anniversary this year as well as numerous roles for television too. Jeremy’s wife Maureen is also coming along to keep us all in check!
The final two people joining the Caravan are Jedi News team members Matt Booker (Automattic Comics) and Dave Tree (All the Cool Stuff and Palitoy Archive) who bring their driving skills and almost eighty years of combined Star Wars knowledge on-board.
A journey like this is a great way to spread the word, explain what Make-A-Wish do and raise money for them, at the same time continuing to promote the great charitable efforts the Star Wars community provides worldwide each and every day. Our aim is to raise a total of £5,000 for Make-A-Wish to help make a difference to children who won’t necessarily ever get the chance to travel on exciting journeys like this or enjoy the magic of Star Wars at a Celebration event. We invite friends, family, strangers and Star Wars fans alike to dig deep and contribute to the Caravan of the Force at JustGiving.co.uk (http://www.justgiving.com/caravan-of-the-force) which accepts all major currencies. It doesn’t matter how big or little the contribution, it all goes to Make-A-Wish and hopefully together we can help bring smiles to the faces of many terminally ill children by turning their wishes and dreams into reality.
The Caravan would not be possible without our generous sponsors that include Toys ‘R’ Us, Holiday Inn that supplied our accommodation in the UK, Hyundai who supplied our vehicles, P&O Ferries that enabled us to cross the channel and Vodafone that are powering our communications across the whole trip.

You can join in the fun too at one of our first stops on July 19th when we’ll be visiting Toys ‘R’ Us in Brent Cross, London for the launch of Hasbro’s new Star Wars series of 3.75” and 6” figures called The Black Series. The event will start at 7:30pm and Jeremy Bulloch will be signing autographs on a special Black Series backing card and you’ll have the first opportunity in Europe to buy the figures too. The 501st UK Garrison, Rebel Legion and R2 Builders Club will be on hand to keep the crowds under control and have the opportunity to pose for fun photos.

There will be more chances to catch up with the Caravan of the Force at various locations across the UK, France, Belgium and Germany – more details to follow.
Monitor the progress of the Caravan of the Force at StarWars.com, JediNews.co.uk, Facebook ‘Caravan of the Force’ and on Twitter #CaravanOfTheForce.

Be sure to support this important cause, by clicking on any of the links,  and thanks to Mark and Jedi News UK for allowing us to help them spread the word!
