After much speculation from fans and the media far and wide, Disney has made a major move in realizing our dreams of an entire land dedicated to Star Wars. On the heels of revitalizing California Adventure by expanding the park borders with the addition of Cars Land, Theme Park Insider is reporting that President of Disneyland Resort George Kalogridis has been promoted to President of Disney World.

How Awesome Is This Move?

The much anticipated California Adventure makeover included not only this highly popular Cars Land with three new rides, more stores and restaurants, but also the World of Color spectacular laser light show that features favorite Disney movie moments projected onto larger than life water screens. Through sheer creative genius, this show includes coordinated lighting on every ride in the vicinity and dancing fountains along the walkways. You can even purchase light up mouse ears that receive some sort of blue tooth signal and light up in different colors in time with show. Pretty snazzy! Tie in the DJ hosted raves being thrown in the Hollywood portion of the park and we’ve got a major party on our hands.

But I digress. The point of this article isn’t to oh and aw California Adventure, but rather to share with you my excitement over Kalogridis move to Disney World and the green light he’s been given to expand and revitalize Hollywood Studios. And expand he will. Florida will be not only the proud recipient of Cars Land that has brought 23% growth in ticket sales out here on the Best Coast, but will one up us by getting the mother load of lands: Star Wars land!

Think of the possibilities!

How many of you would like to have a drink in Mos Eisley Cantina? Chow down on a burger in Dex’s Diner? Or ride a speeder on the Moon of Endor? Pod Racing anyone? Hold on to your hats and glasses folks, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride as you navigate your way through an asteroid field of fun and excitement. There are so many great Star Wars moments that would translate well to amusement park rides I can hardly contain myself. I wonder if Jabba will provide any live entertainment for us? Disney Princess Slave Leia? Not sure they’ll go that far with it, but if it was up to me they most certainly would. 🙂
